Job Purpose:

To ensure the development, implementation and monitoring of high quality, standards-based Urdu materials for the Technology Enabled Academic Learning (TEAL) materials through coordination with multiple departments.

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

 

Curriculum Mapping and Alignment -  weightage:  10%

 

  • Lead the detailed Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) mapping and alignment of the curriculum standards.
  • Develop detailed SOWs according to SLO mapping for different projects depending on standards and textbook boards.
  • Ensure the progression of SLOs for grades 6, 7, and 8.
  • Stay abreast of any changes to standards and textbooks, updating and adjusting SOWs annually.

 

Curriculum Development  -  weightage: 30%

 

  • Development/Review of the TEAL packages, including videos, lesson plans, and assessments
  • Review Urdu content on an as-needed basis  to ensure accuracy and educational effectiveness
  • Provide support to content revisions based on teacher feedback for continuous improvement
  • Prepare formative and unit-wise summative assessment tools
  • Develop mid & annual end of term exam papers for different regions and textbooks, including answer keys
  • Test lesson materials through conducting field-based orientation training
  • Incorporate learning from field test to finalize lesson packages based upon the feedback and comments of teachers and other stakeholders

 

Orientation Trainings  -  weightage: 15%

 

  • Develop and conduct orientation training modules based on TEAL philosophy and teaching skills.
  • Adapt training modules according to dynamic needs and feedback from stakeholders, ensuring continual improvement.
  • Design comprehensive subject-based pedagogy guidelines for teachers, encompassing essential instructions to enhance teaching skills based on the TEAL philosophy.
  • Provide subject specific pedagogy training

 

Monitoring and Evaluation -  weightage:   20%

 

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation tools to assess the effectiveness of the TEAL curriculum.
  • Conduct virtual and face-to-face observations (informed and uninformed) to identify gaps in classroom teaching and develop improvement strategies.
  • Develop strategies for improvement based on observation findings.
  • Review teacher feedback on lessons given in weekly reports; communicate findings to content developers for ongoing improvements
  • Review student performance on assessments, analyzing findings and presenting results to content developers for ongoing improvements
  • Establish a feedback loop to enhance content quality, addressing concerns and suggestions from teachers.
  • Spearhead the enhancement and improvement of observation tools for virtual and face-to-face observations.
  • Design a comprehensive observation checklist to systematically evaluate and improve the quality of TEAL-based teaching methods.

Teacher Support and Improvement -  weightage:   20%

 

  • Formulate Urdu specific teaching guidelines focused on the TEAL philosophy
  • Manage project-specific communication channels between multiple departments
  • Provide ongoing subject specific content and pedagogy support and guidance (coaching) to teachers through WhatsApp
  • Create project-specific WhatsApp groups, targeting specific areas for improvement and ongoing support.

 

Additional Tasks – weightage: 5%

  • Conduct scheduled meetings with the teams as per an arrangement that is workable for all
  • Prepare and submitting quarterly reports on curriculum design status and progress
  • Develop and maintain annual curriculum budget for relevant subjects

 

Subject Specific Skills:

 

  • Strong knowledge of Urdu content and subject specific pedagogy
  • Understanding of national standards for English for all areas of learning
  • Knowledge of inductive teaching models and strategies
  • Experience using activity-based learning for teaching concepts
  • Experience working with government schools and teachers

Education, qualification, skills and experience:

 

Educational Qualifications & Subject Skills

  • A Master’s or subject specific degree in education or a related discipline
  • Experience in curriculum design and blended learning
  • Familiarity with the framework of SLOs in the National Curriculum in order to align curriculum packages with the National Curriculum
  • Capacity to design formal and informal content and processes by which learners gain knowledge, develop skills, and alter attitudes
  • Relevant subject discipline knowledge may be advantageous

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in lesson planning and classroom delivery
  • Experience in designing resource materials and writing formative and summative assessments

 

Other Skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills as well strong research skills 
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team and meet tight deadlines
  • Managerial experience at a learning institution may be required
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Skype and web-based project management sites

 

Technical knowledge/ know how

  • Competence in using MS office; Word, Power Point, Excel
  • Ability to use technology to facilitate distance learning
