Production of Video Documentary to Showcase the Organization’s Gender Equality  Project Impact

Background Information

 An international organization has been working in Pakistan since 1982 and engages both right-holders and duty-bearers through local implementing partners to foster inclusive societies and positive gender relations in close collaboration with its local partners, the organization has successfully built synergies between its relief and development programmes to deliver timely and culturally sensitive support and services to mobilize and empower local communities, especially women and girls.

 

Through a close collaboration between local civil society organizations (CSOs), governmental bodies, judiciary, police and parliamentarian, the organizational programme interventions offer prevention and protection against harmful cultural practices, for instance, forced and early/child marriages, denial of inheritance to girls and women, and domestic violence. We ensure gender sensitive interventions projects to sensitize and create more legal awareness through local CSOs, law making and implementing bodies that are working to change social norms that condone Gender inequality, while promoting positive masculinities by engaging young men and boys. We also offer venues for women’s equal participation in decision-making and help set-up networks that empower women to participate in public sphere for economic development opportunities. We work with community leaders to advocate for equal women’s rights and stop violence against women and girls. Moreover, we support local CSOs to advocate for effective implementation of pro-women legislation to promote gender equality and end harmful cultural practices through deliberations with the duty bearers.

 

Since 2018, this organization is implementing Gender equality project by Engaging Men and Boys to Reduce Gender based Violence (GBV)” via local partners; in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi and Islamabad Capital Territory. The overall objective of the project is to enhance knowledge of people around Gender equal rights   to prevent and act against GBV within communities with an outcome to dominate positive social norms to protect girls and women from Gender inequality . Moreover, project contributed in enhancing knowledge of state actors on laws, policies and budgets to improve GBV implantations. Through project interventions, GBV survivors safely got access to support services. Moreover, women and girls in target areas have greater freedom to influence decisions that affected their lives.

 

The organization want to document the successes and lessons learnt that have been achieved in the form of short videos. These videos will be multi-purpose productions which will be used at various forums for advocacy and awareness-raising. They will also highlight the change that brought development and contentment in people’s lives through narrating the success stories of the beneficiaries along with documenting the best practices and lesson learnt during the program implementation. The organization intends to use these videos to showcase the results achieved along with documenting the efforts put into to make this program a success.

 

Main Objectives of the Documentary

  1. Promote lessons learnt and results achieved through gender-based violence prevention project.
  2. Document the efforts to build the capacity of the communities; men, women and girls through this project,
  3. Record short clips/ success stories from area of interventions.
  4. Profile the contribution of the organization in reducing Gender inequality  in target districts of Pakistan.

 

The organization will be seeking a proposal from the consultancy firms and media houses, in designing and developing the following assignment:

Production of 3-short videos on Gender Equality  project

Duration:

The assignment is expected to take 30 working days from the date of signing the contract.

 

Geographic Coverage: Shooting of the documentary will be conducted in Sindh (Hyderabad) and Punjab (Islamabad and Rawalpindi).

Themes of the Videos:

  • Economic Empowerment
  • Ending Violence Against Women
  • Gender inequality

 

Scope of work:

The scope of work is to produce 3 short videos of 3 minutes on each of the abovementioned themes of the Gender equality project. These videos will include shots of the activities conducted under the Gender equality  projects, sound bites and interviews that narrates how the project intervention has brought a positive change in the lives of project beneficiaries along graphic representation of the data. In all these videos, the organization would like to highlight the outcomes which have been sustained through the project.

 

Specific Deliverables:

The specific aim of this services  includes:

  • Outline/ storyboards, develop framework of the film, prepare full script and shoot plan along with timelines for each activity in consultation with the Organization’s technical team for all the three videos;
  • ;
  • Outdoor and indoor shooting in the targeted areas on high definition camera;
  • Recording of activities, interviews/statements of the beneficiaries and other relevant officials;
  • Complete editing and post production;
  • 3-D animation of logo and interludes, as required;
  • Background scores;
  • Background voice over in English language by a professional artist and subtitles in Urdu
  • 100 A-4 size English Language Info Graphic Poster for all the 3-videos each that can be used in a practical way as a teaching tool and as a means to communicate what the  organization Pakistan does in terms of advocacy, leadership, technical tools/methodology, innovation and community-level programming,
  • High resolution still photographs of beneficiaries/ other interviewees,
  • Master Copy of Digital Video Tape, (D.V) Tape for the documentary,
  • 100 High Resolution Printed packs of DVD, each containing documentaries in MPEG4, AVI and WMV formats;
  • Submission of all the raw footage before the release of the final payment.

 

 

 

Equipment for the Assignment

No equipment will be purchased or provided by the organization. Any equipment needed to complete this assignment will be provided by the service provider.

 

Remuneration:

The service provider’s payment shall be based on the financial proposal developed for this consultancy.

Payment shall be made in four installments of;

  • 25% after concept finalization
  • 25% after shooting and field visits and submission of rush cuts
  • 50% at completion (Delivery of project files and 100 DVDs)

Note: Vendor will provide the schedule of all these tasks

Executional Mandates

  • English language
  • Adhere to the contracting organization’s brand style guidelines (to be provided)
  • Tone and manner should reflect desired new brand attributes of progressive, energetic and high quality while maintaining existing elements of trustworthiness and strong community connection.
  • Length 3-4 minutes maximum.  Each video should be able to work as a stand-alone but should be part of an obvious ‘series’ with use of consistent tone and manner.
  • The contracting organization will have whole Footage sole ownership and copyright and the selected  contractor will have to sign the media policy of the contracting organization .

Content of the Proposal

The consultant/agency will be required to submit detailed proposals for the assignment. The proposals should be divided into two parts, i.e. technical and financial. The technical part will contain among others, the following sections:

  • Profile of consultancy firm, CVs of lead and team member(s), and only CVs of persons in case of individuals to carry out assignment.
  • Technical proposal outlining the approach to be followed in designing and conducting the assignment (including key deliverables, timeline and tools).
  • Detailed financial proposal including logistical and accommodation costs. The budget proposed will be evaluated alongside the technical proposal and the organization reserves the right to make alternative suggestions on costing.
  • Three references (at least two of whom must be familiar with your work).
  • An example of a recent/relevant assignment

 

Consultant/agency will be requested to share the assignment proposal mentioning budgeting for pre and post production activities including boarding and lodging.

 

NOTE: All travel costs, boarding lodging, coordination, location arrangement and permissions for taking general stock shots will be responsibility of the vendor.
