Relevant Experience & Qualification: 

  • CA, CMA, M.Com  or equivalent 
  • Minimum 07 years relevant experience a non-profit organization at a senior finance position 
  • Substantial experience in financial management managing accounts in an NGO
  • Understanding of the requirements of IAS, multi-donor funded projects, excellent skills of financial management of non profits

Job Description:

To ensure that financial administration, control and management of SPO resources are carried out in a cost effective manner in line with the organizational objectives.

  • Ensure effective financial control of SPO funds, institutional and projects, both at national and regional levels
  • Ensures that financial reporting to SPO Board of Directors and donors is as per agreed schedules and complied with the requirements.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports to the donors as per contribution agreements
  • Conducts financial analysis and reports on periodic basis to the SMC on variances and unit cost preparation of company’s financial statements as per international reporting standards
  • Act as co-signatory for the accounts operated by SPO National Centre
  • Provide guidance to the Regional management on current financial procedures
  • Responsible that annual budget is developed on agreed formats and in time for its presentation before the BOD
  • Approve the financial accounting system including the chart of account and account codes;
  • Responsible for smooth operations, management and maintenance of all bank accounts across SPO in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Undertake financial reviews of programmes as required by the Supervisor
  • Finalize periodic cash flow requirements against the approved work plan
  • Oversee company’s taxation matters
  • Coordinate internal/external audit and grants due diligence 

Human Resource Management:

  • Monitor and review staff performance and achievement on a regular basis including supervision and annual appraisals; and offer timely constructive feedback
  • Liaise with HR about staff performance and attendance issues
  • Help to recruit, interview  and induct staff
  • Coach and mentor staff to ensure they achieve their objectives 

Other:

  • Adhere to SPO policies and promote participatory culture and demonstrate SPO’s values
  • Have joint responsibility with Head of Corporate Affairs for effective asset management
