About the Project:

Pakistan Agricultural Technology Transfer Activity (PATTA) is a 4-year, USAID-funded project that will bring to scale private sector solutions to improve agricultural productivity in Pakistan. PATTA is partnering with agricultural technology companies to commercialize products and services with the potential to increase the productivity and competitiveness of smallholder farmers while mobilizing private sector investment in agricultural technology. PATTA partnerships will provide smallholder farmers with broader access to affordable technologies to increase productivity and incomes, build resilience to climate change, and reduce postharvest losses.

Position Description:

Working under the supervision of the Agricultural Technology Specialist/Director, the Livestock Technology Specialist will be responsible for improving smallholder farmers access to new livestock technologies.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The main duties of the Livestock Technology Specialist are: 

  • Identify and recommend adaptations of livestock-related technologies that meet the needs of subsets of smallholders.
  • Contribute to demonstration activities and participatory trainings on improved and adapted livestock-related technologies for sales forces of technology firms, agrodealers, aggregators, processors, and dairy and livestock-related associations.
  • Identify STTA needs related to livestock technologies, work with the BDMS Unit to fill requirements, and oversee consultants.
  • Share project findings and materials developed on livestock-related technologies with other donor projects, public-sector organizations, trainers, para-vets, extension agents, and other key stakeholders.
  • Monitor implementation, incorporate findings, gather and disseminate feedback, and recommend related adjustments to new extension materials and trainings.
  • Contribute to public presentations and the drafting of success stories on livestock-related technologies to support program and sector-wide learning.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Pakistani national;
  • At least seven years of relevant, professional experience in roles with increasing levels of responsibility required, 10+ years preferred;
  • Experience supporting donor-funded projects is required, USAID experience preferred;
  • Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Livestock Development, Animal Health, Dairy Science/ Technology or related field (Master’s Degree will be preferred)
  • Fluency in English is required.
