Position Purpose

HelpAge International is the secretariat to a global network of organizations promoting the right of all older people to lead dignified, healthy and secure lives.  From a network of 154 like-minded organizations, and 12 country offices, operating in 97 countries; 56 have been engaging in advocacy, 22 in campaigning and 25 in community cohesion activities; 38 have been distributing food and 45 medicine/PPE/hygiene kits; 45 are providing psychosocial support and 55 have been raising awareness of COVID-19. We will implement a COVID19 response project “Strengthening government sector health system and providing immediate emergency response to curtail outbreak of COVID-19 across Pakistan in Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces”. We will implement project in district Ghotki and Khairpur in a consortium and funded by ECHO under HIP2020. The project will support designated health facilities in both district regarding COVID19 infection prevention and response for 12 month. The project will address the immediate needs of targeted health facilities in COVID19 response and support through provision of disinfectants, PPEs and enhancing testing capacities. The Field Officer will support the project activities in the field. He/ She will work closely with health facilities in the district and health committees to ensure COVID19 infection prevention and response activities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The field officer will be responsible for overall field related activities including support health facility administration in provision of supplies for infection prevention, supply of PPEs, support in maintenance of handwashing facilities, arrange trainings and other COVID19 response activities. The person will also be responsible for community awareness, strengthening and support in development of IEC material and case studies of the project.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities

The specific roles and responsibilities of the position holder are including:

  1. Conduct social mobilization and arrange meeting with health facilities staff and health committees
  2. Collect SAAD (Sex, age, and disaggregated data) of all activities.
  3. Share the project detail with health facility staff and members of health committees
  4. Profiling, meeting and reformation of health committees, if not active or not working.
  5. Collect information about other organization working in the area, their contact details for meeting, sensitization and scope of activities.
  6. Support health facilities to make them age and disability inclusive
  7. Arrange distribution of humanitarian support in communities as per mentioned in project
  8. Assist co-members in arrangement of meetings, trainings and sensitization session.
  9. Compile and submit daily and weekly reports of activities performed.
  10. Maintain database of the activities
  11. Support in development of IEC material and case studies

Safeguarding Responsibilities

  1. Preventing harm and abuse from our people, operations and programmes, to anyone that encounters our work;
  2. Report all safeguarding incidents they see, hear, hear about or suspect, using our internal reporting mechanism;
  3. Complying with all safeguarding framework policies and practices
  4. Completing mandatory training courses relating to our safeguarding policy framework and comply with HR vetting procedures.
  5. Reducing the risk of harm and abuse in the field;
  6. Involving communities in the design of programmes and complaint response mechanisms, be responsible for implementation and review;
  7. Attending specialist field training on safeguarding as required;
  8. Maintaining maps of support services for survivors;
  9. Receiving and responding to complainants/survivors and ensuring that no further harm is done, following a survivor-centred approach, using the principles of psychological first aid, and signposting to relevant local services as needed
  10. Reporting all safeguarding incidents they become aware of

 

Professional Skills:

  1. Bachelor / master’s degree in relevant field
  2. Priority will be given to Local candidates from Ghotki and Khairpur.
  3. 3-4 years of experience in relevant field
  4. Strong communication Skills (preferably local languages including Sindhi)
  5. Ability to work in team
  6. Good skills in computer
