An international organization under the c/o Pakistan Red Crescent Society is looking for an Intern (Procurement & Admin) to provide technical support to the organization’s portfolio in Pakistan office.

Organizational mission:

The organization aims to relieve the suffering and save the lives of people affected by armed conflict, protracted crisis and acute disasters. We work through a combination of channels, considering collaboration with Red Cross Movement actors to respond, both in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, to any given crisis. 

The position is based in Islamabad.

Purpose of Intern (Procurement & Admin):

The Intern (Procurement & Admin) will secure that country teams in Pakistan are able to support and undertake necessary operational logistics including but not limited to procurement, supply chain, and administration services.

The overall responsibility of Intern (Procurement & Admin):  

Operational responsibilities

  • Assists in developing and managing s a comprehensive overview of Office inventory and assets to ensure asset management routines are implemented at Country level
  • Assists in managing contractual engagement and services for the country office and RO delegate housing
  • Assists in Coordinating logistics and procurement processes in the country office in accordance with organization’s standard procurement practices
  • Assists in Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date supplier information database for regularly purchased items and keeps informed of local market conditions
  • Assists in Preparing request for payments ensuring the full supporting documents are in place and ensures that payment requests are signed in accordance with standard accountability matrix
  • Perform periodic inventory counts
  • Support CO and Host National Society (HNS) programs within logistics matters

Administration

  • Drivers, cleaners/support staff management and maintenance of offices.
  • Scanning & Filing of Financial Documents of Country Office
  • Managing Office Supplies and updating Supplies inventory.
  • Intern (Procurement & Admin) will liaise with suppliers and service providers to ensure timely and effective delivery of goods and services to country/regional office.
  • Liaises with suppliers, international and governmental offices when appropriate.
  • Any other Tasks assigned by the line manager

We seek a person who;  

  • Successful track record of logistics operation management.
  • Experience from logistics including warehousing, transportation and procurement for international humanitarian operations is an asset.
  • Demonstrably experience from overcoming logistical bottlenecks with a solution-oriented approach.
  • Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinate and monitor work plans and other arrange supporting documentation.
  • Abide by and work in accordance with the Red Cross and Red Crescent principles
  • Fluency in English is a requirement
  • Skills in relevant IT tools, including with Microsoft Office

Education:

  • University Degree (Master) in Business/Public Administration or preferably in Logistics/Supply Chain Management

Experience:   

  • At least three (3) years of work experience in general logistics and Admin
  • Experience with Red Cross Red Crescent will be an asset
