The job description specifications will be reviewed on a regular basis keeping in view the evolving role of the Curriculum Designers.

 

Job Purpose:

To ensure development of high quality, standards-based Science  teaching and learning resources by planning, designing and implementing all Science curriculum materials and activities under the supervision of the Curriculum Director

 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

 

Duty 1:  Content Development  -  weightage:  35%

 

  • Develop /enhance student centered and activity based subject curriculum packages (as per provided description) for relevant subjects (science) aligned with the SLOs mapped in the Pakistan national standards for all grade levels
  • Integrate science process skills into the lesson design and plan at least two complete projects, based upon the entire scientific process for each grade level, one per term.
  • Map SLOs, based on different standards as per the requirement of different projects/ regions
  • Prepare formative, monthly unit tests and summative assessments
  • Design relevant supplementary resources aligned with the new curriculum packages to support classroom teaching
  • Develop examination papers for mid and final terms  with TOS as per need
  •  Adapt assessment tools for each of the curriculum package developed
  • Develop baseline and end line assessment tools
  • Work with Senior Manager for Curriculum Design to follow DIL guidelines for lesson plan formats
  • Submit lesson packages for review in a timely manner as per the agreed plan for targets and timelines and adapt activities and strategies as per the reviewer comments
    • Make a list of supplementary resources and kit items required for implementing the suggested activities/experiments
    • Evaluating and refining the curriculum related to Science.

 

 Content Review

 

  • Review subject content including Lesson Plans, power point presentations, script with translation
    • Finalize the lesson packages and supplementary resources after review. 

 

 

 

Duty 2:  Field Test Curriculum Packages  -  weightage:  25%

 

  • Design trainers notes for providing orientation trainings to teachers for rolling out curriculum packages using multiple strategies based on different learning styles and ability levels identified in the needs analysis
  • Test teachers’ curriculum packages and teaching & learning materials through conducting field based orientation training
  • Incorporate learning from field test to finalize lesson packages based upon the feedback and comments of teachers and other stakeholders

 

Duty 3: Follow up support   -  weightage:   20%

 

  • Conduct sample based visits ( virtual and face to face) to project schools for providing feedback to teachers and collecting data to inform future curriculum design

           

Any other Work -  weightage:   20%              

  • Conduct scheduled meetings with the teams as per an arrangement that is workable for all
  • Carry out yearly assessment of the curricula
  • Prepare and submitting quarterly reports on curriculum design status and progress
  • Develop and maintain annual curriculum budget for relevant subjects

Subject Specific Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of science process skills and subject vocabulary
  • Understanding of national standards for science for all grade levels
  • Knowledge of student-centered teaching methods
  • Experience using inquiry-based learning for teaching science concepts

Education, qualification, skills and experience:

 

Educational Qualifications & Subject Skills

  • A Master’s degree or above in education or a related discipline
  • Experience in curriculum design and blended learning
  • Familiarity with the framework of SLOs in the National Curriculum in order to align curriculum packages with the National Curriculum
  • Capacity to design formal and informal content and processes by which learners gain knowledge, develop skills, and alter attitudes
  • Relevant subject discipline knowledge may be advantageous

 

Work Experience

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in lesson planning and classroom delivery
  • Experience in designing resource materials and writing formative and summative assessments

 

 

 

Other Skills

 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills as well strong research skills 
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team and meet tight deadlines
  • Managerial experience at a learning institution may be required

Technical knowledge/ know how

  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Google Apps, Skype and web-based project management sites
  • Ability to use technology to facilitate distance learning  
  • Capable in typing the script in Urdu
