Position: Field Supervisor
Location: Sahiwal, Pakistan with local travel
Duration: April to Dec 2025 (9-Month)
Reporting to: Project Manager
1. Background
Akhter Hameed Khan Foundation (AHKF) is a non-profit organization registered with SECP under the company ordinance of the Government of Pakistan with its HO Islamabad. The foundation is implementing a pilot in Sahiwal city in collaboration with the District Administration Sahiwal. This project seeks to demonstrate a viable model for sustainable, recycling and waste management circular economy practices by local households in poor communities, and organize local waste pickers to form collective enterprises in solid waste management solutions.
2. Objectives of the Position
The Field Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing daily field activities, managing a small team, mobilizing the community, forming waste management groups, identifying waste pickers/kabariya, waste collectors, coordinating with district administration and Municipal Corporation stakeholders.
3. Key Responsibilities
- Engage and mobilize community members, including women and youth, to participate in waste management activities.
- Conduct awareness campaigns and educational sessions on waste segregation, recycling, and the benefits of a circular economy.
- Waste Management Group Formation:
- Facilitate the formation of waste management groups within the community.
- Identify and organize scavengers, waste collectors, and Kabaria into structured groups.
- Help the groups become a formal enterprise and register as a company
- Oversee daily field activities to ensure they are conducted according to the project plan.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational protocols during field operations.
- Provide on-site guidance and support to field staff and community members.
- Monitoring of Field Work:
- Monitor the progress of field activities and report any issues or delays to the Project Manager.
- Conduct regular field visits to assess the quality and effectiveness of the project interventions.
- Collect and compile data on field activities for reporting and evaluation purposes.
- Coordination with Stakeholders:
- Maintain regular communication with project stakeholders, including local authorities, community leaders, Sahiwal Waste Management Company, and the Commissioner’s office.
- Organize and participate in stakeholder meetings and workshops.
- Ensure that stakeholder feedback is incorporated into project activities and strategies.
4. Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's/Master’s degree in environmental science, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in community organizations and field supervision in local NGOs or in an enterprise
- Strong understanding of community engagement and waste management
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with government stakeholders and partners.
- Proficiency in Urdu/Punjabi and familiarity with the Sahiwal region is an advantage.
- Strong Reporting of events and meetings
5. Preference:
Candidates residing in Sahiwal or with a strong understanding of the local context will be given preference.
